The editors of Smithsonian periodical have now announced the 20 finalists in their 9th annual photo contest. They’ve gently allowable me to split several of the concluding contenders below, counting some astonishing images from every of the competition’s five categories: Americana, The Natural World, People, Altered Images, and Travel.
